For most people, the thought of saving thousands of dollars to travel the world is an unreachable task. While there are many ways to save money, for some, there’s no amount of budgeting that will help them save enough. Reading articles on how people saved some crazy amount for travel can just be depressing. “I could never do that,” you say. “Sure, those people saved tens of thousands making minimum wage, but I can’t even afford food.” All those articles on travel blogs, Elite Daily and Buzzfeed are far too unrealistic. I admit I’m guilty of this too.

We went on the day cruise as it was part of a package tour. Next time I am going to make sure we try the night cruise as I do think it would have a lovely romantic vibe about it. The Loboc river cruise was definitely a highlight for me.
When visiting the town of Loboc you can experience cruising by their unique and famous floating restaurant. It will not only fill your tummy, but the lush trees along the serene river in the cruise will surely make you feel relaxed.
The Loboc River Dinner Cruise starts by the Loay Bridge at the Loboc town proper where you can choose from a variety of river cruising vessels. It usually runs for an hour or so back and forth. Near the Loay bridge, you can witness the local kids use the railings as a diving board of sorts.

Landing on the River’s Dock floating restaurants was quite serious. First of all, you need to buy a ticket for a specific time. Landing starts 30 minutes before departure. There are some companies offering tours on floating restaurants. As soon as you aboard, waitress offer you drinks and guide you to the table. Food is served as a buffet. After 5 minutes, they open it, so guests can eat before the trip starts. Well, it makes sense because the journey on the river is rather short in time, about more or less one hour o back and forth. During this time you want to look around and take some photos, talk with other people without any rush.
What sets the Filipino food experience in Loboc apart from dining in other restaurants and food joints in this list is that in Loboc, you get to eat Filipino food like Chicken Adobo, Lechon, Pansit Guisado, vegetables, fruits, desserts. Everything is quite tasty, you definitely can find something for yourself. So the price is reasonable. You spend money on ticket instead of restaurant but save time which is always important in travel.
Dining at Loboc River Cruise is on a first come, first served basis. Some guests prefer to reserve slots ahead with their tour guides or tour operators to avoid waiting too long. If you can come earlier to reserve a slot, then you may not have to wait an hour or two past your lunch time.
The river is picturesque. Green jungle leaning over the green waters. Just life in all its glory. Rare houses on shore and fishing boats complete this landscape. This is what I expected and it was more pleasant than I imagined. But I definitely didn’t imagine Busay waterfalls at the end of the route. It was so unexpected and so beautiful!
The journey on the river is rather short in time, about half an hour one way. During this time you want to look around and take some photos, talk with other people without any rush.
Another pleasant surprise is a hut full of native Filipino’s dressed in costumes. Their musical performance is pretty well even though it’s not well synchronized and organized. You’ll heart will melt because the performance was full of children’s joy and spontaneity. And then they called everyone to join: play musical instruments, sing, dance and jump over bamboo stems.
They looked very nice and touching. Even their dogs where amazing because they entertain tourist. In general, it was very fun and provocatively. Souvenir items and bottles of honey are also sold on the raft, and there are donation boxes available for those who want to give tips.
