When it comes to food, word of mouth advertising and social media play a large part in making or breaking a restaurant. Many good things have been said about Demars Restaurant Antipolo.. Lets see why…
Demars Restaurant Antipolo Review
Head Chef and Restaurateur Demar Regresado is a Filipino-British citizen started the restaurant back in October 2015 and since then has personally shaped and blended the food style and restaurant into what it is today.
He and his wife fell in love with the location and the three-storey building as soon as they saw it. They then set about turning the building into the restaurant of their dreams adding European and Filipino styled interiors and enhancing the romantic atmosphere overlooking Metro manila.
Standing outside Demars and viewing it from the street, the restaurant looks simple, humble yet stylish. There is no 5 star grandeur about this place, no chandeliers or red carpets, just simplicity, elegance and charm. Because of its simplicity, we thought the food would be simple too… We were so wrong…
The restaurant is on two decks of the three-storey building. Both decks have great views over Metro Manila. There is no air conditioning but don’t worry, you get a beautiful breeze and the air is nice and cool.
We actually took the picture below of Demars front entrance when we were actually leaving. We arrived in the afternoon and were in such a hurry to get to our tables to see the sunset that I didn’t have time to take the entry picture until we left.. That is why it is in the dark yet we have pictures of a sunset…
Romantic Demars Restaurant Antipolo
From the moment we entered the staff was warm and welcoming. Taking us to the top deck and seating us promptly. There were a few delays with the arrival of food but it was nothing to complain about. All in all the service was good, attentive and professionally courteous.
We were so lucky to arrive before sunset. The weather was brilliant and the sunset, amazing. This is one of the few times Gary was able to convince me to drink wine. I must admit, it was so romantic watching the sun set, sipping on chilled, sparkling white wine and talking about anything that enters our minds… Yes, it was a great evening…
If you are at any time unsure about the quality of the cooking or the kitchen when you visit Demars Restaurant Antipolo, you can simply go to the front entrance and watch as the dishes are being prepared via the glass viewing window. See in the picture above showing the front of the building… On the ride side you can see the viewing window into the kitchen.
We both liked the presentation of the menu… simple and uncluttered. The selection was good but not overwhelming with pages and pages of selections that just end up confusing you.
When we ordered we also received complimentary soup and focaccia bread each which was a good start to the meal and a welcome surprise. The soup was Malunggay and nicely creamy with a slight acidic aftertaste, very delicious. The bread was light, fresh and not too oily.
What we ordered
Bangers & Mash (P395)
Wagyu T-bone Steak (P1495)
Eton Mess (P245)
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” ― Marilyn Monroe
“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Bangers & Mash (P395)
We both found this dish quite tasty. The bangers were not over-cooked and full of juice and flavor. The mashed potato and the gravy/sauce just finished to meal off nicely. We were both pleased with this dish.
Wagyu T-Bone Steak 8 oz (P1495)
OMG.. look at the size of that steak…. We had a hard time eating all of it. We ordered it medium rare and it came out just the way we were hoping… With a touch of color in the middle and juicy.
It was a little on the expensive side and I wouldn’t be ordering it everyday but it was totally worth the price.
Eton Mess (P245)
For desert we both decided to try the “Eton Mess” and as you can see below, it does look like a bit of a mess on the table… If you look closely you can see the melted sugar standing love-heart. I thought it was so cute I didn’t want to start eating just in case it broke.. But, it didn’t take me too long to get over the emotions and to start listening to my tummy.
The desert was nice in small servings but I did find it too sweet if i ate too much. Gary loved it though so what can I say…
Demars Restaurant isn’t the cheapest restaurant in Antipolo but it does have a charming atmosphere, good food and a romantic view.
All the dishes we had were value for money, even the Wagyu T-Bone Steak at P1495. Sure, you can find cheaper places to eat and maybe places with slightly better views but not many have the charm of Demars
The service was always good when we were there and any complaints or questions were always attended to.
Next time you are in Antipolo and want somewhere different to go for lunch or dinner that has charm and character, Demars Restaurant is a good choice.
