Yellow Lantern Cafe Review

We had received messages from followers telling us if we were ever in Antipolo to make sure we visited the Yellow lantern Cafe. So, with that recommendation on board we made sure to have an early dinner at the cafe. We were lucky enough to arrive just a little past 4.30 in the afternoon. The cafe had a few customers but not overly busy which was good because we were able to get good table seats with a view of the sunset.
The Yellow lantern Cafe Antipolo
The cafe is found on the ground floor of the Comodaville Building on Sumulong Highway, Mambugan. The entrance is nicely colored and inviting giving a welcoming feel as you enter. The interior is brightly colored with yellow being the main theme which gives a positive uplifting feel and vibe to the place. I found it quite refreshing. Sitting back in my chair, sipping my drink and watching the sun gently set over busy manila, I could see how this could be an amazing place to just chill out or have a romantic evening with a special someone.
Apparently owner , Emilie Cruz named it the Yellow Lantern Cafe because “yellow” and “lantern” both are bright and illuminate. Cruz wanted a cafe that was able to emit positive energy to his customers through food, ambiance, and convenience. From what i experienced, I think it was achieved nicely. The backdrop of the Manila skyline, the food and the carefree atmosphere melted all my cares away.
At maximum the cafe can seat 100 people at once so there is room for larger groups if required.
Talking to the waiter, the most popular dishes are spareribs, buffalo chicken fingers, crepes, churros and fruit shakes. It all sounded so good it was hard to make a decision but finally we ordered.
I had the Salt and Pepper Chilli Spare Ribs (275P) and Gary had the Buffalo Chicken fingers (250P). A friend also ordered the Fettuccini Carbonara (299php) and the EmCaro Pizza (340php). When the dishes arrive we were all pleased with the serving sizes. They gave us plenty of value for money on our plates (lol).
The chilli Ribs were awesome, crunchy on the outside and beautifully tender on the inside. Not too spicy… just how I like it.
Gary said the Buffalo Chicken fingers were ok but a little dry. The Fettuccini Carbonara was also a winner.. I tried some and the sauce was so creamy.. loved it.
The EmCaro Pizza was also shared around and was given the thumbs up from everyone. It was like a full-bodied supreme pizza with the lot on top. Overall, the only negativity with the food was the dry Buffalo Chicken fingers. even-though Gary ordered the Buffalo Chicken fingers he was still very satisfied with the meal. Thumbs up all round.
Oh, I almost forgot… The crepe for desert was amazing. You must try them.
Well, the Yellow lantern Cafe Antipolo definitely lived up to all I had been told about it.
The food was well prepared and tasty. Great value for money when compared to other restaurants in the area and in manila for that matter. The atmosphere and setting was very conducive to a relaxing and very pleasant dining experience. Very romantic and easily a winner for couples either catching the setting sun or just gazing over the night lights of distant Manila.
We totally recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a place with good food and ambiance. Also a great way to re-kindle those sparks of romance. The Yellow lantern Cafe Antipolo is a winner in our books.
