Named after the shells -- known locally as “tuay” -- that abundantly covers the shore, Atwayan Beach is one of the best picnic locations in Coron where you can relax, frolic, and see breathtaking corals.
If you’re visiting Atwayan Beach to see something major, you may be disappointed — unlike the surrounding beaches, this small beach isn’t the place for diving but a place for some much-needed leisure time.
It is nestled at the bottom of a tiny bay located on the northwest coast of Coron Island. The strip of sand is no longer than 100 metres, and you’ll find a cool bar and restaurant serving seafood, local and international dishes located toward the southern end of the beach.
Atwayan Beach’s limestone karst backdrop covered with tropical trees and plants is simply stunning. Its waters offer great snorkelling and the sandy expanse is much less crowded than Banol Beach. All you have to do is to join an island-hopping tour or hire a private boat to get here
Cozy picnic huts can be seen everywhere and they’re a great spot where tourists can take their lunch break while taking in the pristine sights around the location. The beach’s gentle, clean waters are great for anyone who wants to relax in the water, or for those who want to snorkel for a bit to see Atwayan’s stunning marine life.
