How to Save Money this Summer Vacation on a tight Budget?

Long weekend but short on budget? Everyone looks forward to enjoying a long weekend to recharge and de-stress. You may want to spend it lounging on the couch and watching your favourite series, but if you’re looking for something exciting, here are five activities to keep the fun rolling in:

1. Go on a fun-filled road trip

Take some time before your trip to learn a game or two you can play on the road. You could be surprised at what you end up learning about each other along the way. Check out the panoramic view of city lights at dusk in Antipolo Rizal or the awe-striking Taal Lake in Tagaytay — and both are just a short drive away from Manila. Bonus tip: these places have awesome foodie spots that you can try.

2. Go Camping

If you’re ready for something more outdoorsy, take your adventure to the next level through camping — by the beach or in the middle of the woods. Camping is a great way to disconnect and spend time with friends and family, all while enjoying a bit of nature (and we could all use more of it!). Now that fall is here and temperatures are cooling, consider planning a camping trip with a few friends to get out and enjoy the season. Check out the Madlum River in Bulacan which has a scenic view of Mt. Daraitan, or try the raw beauty of Nagsasa Cove in Zambales.

3. Hiking or Trekking

And why not sweat the stress out by hiking? Route planning can be that simple: Select an activity such as hiking, cycling or mountain climbing, then choose your starting point and destination on the map. Preparing for your adventure is part of the excitement of travel. With your detailed itinerary, reading list, and pre-departure packet you’re likely well on your way. Apart from the Cordillera region, you can also check out the marvellous hills and mountains of Rizal, Laguna,  Zambales and Bulacan’s Mt Manalmon—these are only a few hours away from Metro Manila.

4. Swimming

So if you are a swimmer who loves to explore above and below the surface at leisure this would be the perfect trip for you! Beach lovers will enjoy the sunset of San Juan, La Union, or the tall waves of Baler, Aurora. You can also explore the untouched beaches in Quezon and Batangas. It is popular to even extend your stay to give yourself a chance to explore from the land and unwind after a long week of swimming or maybe even do more swimming!

5. Exploring the Metro

If you’re not up for a long drive, maybe it’s best to roam around the metro instead. Visit Instagram-worthy museums like the Art In Island in Quezon City or the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo. Or explore some Mystical Cave in Antipolo Rizal. You can also bond with your barkada in mystery escape rooms and paintball spots in the city or stroll in the famous Venice Grand Canal Mall in Taguig.

Have you decided to want to do this summer? Whether you want a grand vacation or just pure relaxation, these tips will surely help you!
